Old Aran Road
The Old Aran Road (Olg. Niomalôr Aranin) was a trackway connecting the towns of Eres and Narn Aran in Orinion. Known by this name since at last the early High Kingdom but possibly used since the earliest settlement of the Harking Hills in Olgish prehistory, it was a major trade line facilitating the movement of ores and equipment between the mining operations of the Delves and the wider Kingdom of Belkondíl. The route was noted for presenting a rather perilous journey due to the relative desolation of the territory it traversed as well as the high frequency of waylaying and robberies.
It followed the course of the Brethan south-westerly from Eres before cutting sharp through the Orinian heath towards Eres, entering the town through its eastern gate. The road was refurbished under early Lécaronian rule and integrated into the Imperial Niom III Aran, built in the early second century L.R.
